DEVELOPING OPPORTUNITIES

Matt Boden and I, along with three other Florida campus ministers, were recently the guests at Florida Christian College in Kissimmee thanks to the invitation of Dr. Roland Howard, Missions Professor. Our purpose was to begin developing a relationship between the campus ministries and FCC, raise the awareness of campus ministry as an important ministry option for students, and to discuss potential internships and curriculum development with faculty and staff. During our two day visit, we were able to give presentations in six different classes, set up displays, and have a couple of meetings with FCC faculty. The positive response from the FCC staff was extremely encouraging and eight students indicated a desire for information on internships and/or staff positions. We have been invited back for the spring semester and are discussing ways to connect campus ministry students to FCC students and visa versa.

The main campus of Edison State College (previously Edison Community College) is located on the south side of Ft. Myers. It is predominantly a commuter school, but recently opened some on campus housing. Matt and I are considering expanding ICCF to this Edison campus. We have talked with staff at Southside Christian Church which is located almost next door to Edison. We know a few ESC students who have expressed interest. Our next step is to invite interested students, church leaders, and church members to join us on a Prayer Journey on the Edison campus to help determine if this is something we should pursue. If we expand onto Edison, we don't know how it will be accomplished, as our time and funds are already stretched. We do know, however, that God is able to make a way.   Please join us in praying for God's leading and empowerment regarding these opportunities.

Your prayers and faithful financial support make it possible for us to be available to join God where He is working among college students. Let's continue to work together to see our next generation of leaders grow strong in Christ Jesus.
